FAQ

HOW DO I USE MY HOT WATER SYSTEM?

Electric hot water system: ensure water is in the unit, switch the switch found outside the van in the hot water service box onto “on”. Inside the van beside the bed inside the lower cupboard you will find a PowerPoint, ensure this is switched on. Gas hot water system: turn gas bottles on in electrical box located inside the van switch the hot water switch on, you will find this will illuminate, once the gas ignites the light will switch off.

How Often do I need to change the sacrificial anode in my suburban hot water system

We recommend you replace the anode every 12 months and give the system a good flush to prevent your pipes and strainers from clogging up with the corroded anode rod. If you are travelling to WA and SA we recommend that you change you anode every 6 months.

CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN AGAIN TO ME HOW THE BATTERY CHARGER WORKS?

When charging your battery it will read 14.7 and 25 amps, when the battery is fully charged it will read 13.7v, when it reads 0.0 your battery is flat and will require a boost. To boost your battery connect your anderson plug for approx 10 seconds then the charger will take over and continue to charge your battery.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE A MASTER KEY TO MINIMISE THE AMOUNT OF KEYS I NEED?

No unfortunately all the our vans come with separate keys, however our lovely receptionist will seperate for you providing one for ‘him’ and one for ‘her’

WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED AMOUNT OF PRESSURE REQUIRED TO PUMP MY TYRES WITH OR WITHOUT A LOAD?

This information can be found on the tyres themselves.

WHAT IS CONTROLLED BY THE 12 PIN PLUG & THE ANDERSON PLUG?

The 12 pin plugs allocated wiring to the correct section of the van and the Anderson plug charges the battery only from the car (isolation switch on 3) please refer to the 12 pin plug as per caravan electrics wiring diagram.

My caravan water pump on my caravan is constantly running during the night – do I have a leak?

Not necessarily, we recommend the following to check which are easy to do whilst on the road with your caravan.

Check that the caravan is level, Turn off the pump at the switch, Fill the tanks completely
Then turn the pump back on and  One by one, open each tap to the hot and cold side until the air is pushed out and water appears to be running in a constant stream, close the tap and move on to the next tap.

And finally repeat this for all taps, toilets, washing machine taps and a-frame taps etc.

If the water flow coming out of the taps is not consistent and has spurts of air, the pump may be drawing air on the non-pressurized side of the pump, or the pump may be faulty. Call you local new age caravans dealer to arrange an appointment.
